Buy used 17-inch laptop with warranty
High-quality laptops are usually not cheap, because for well-known devices you have to pay between a few hundred and more than a thousand euros, depending on the manufacturer and performance. But why should you spend more money than is really necessary - especially since you can buy used 17-inch notebooks for little money at it-versand.com. The devices offered in our shop are bought from lease returns and insolvencies and have been extensively cleaned and checked for functionality. Display
17" notebooks can be purchased with a resolution of 1920 × 1200, 1680 × 1050 or 1440 × 900 pixels. In addition to resolution and size, the question of whether it should be a glossy or matte display also plays an important role when buying a notebook. The glossy notebook display convinces with rich colours and good brightness. The disadvantage of this design, however, is that as soon as light hits the screen, the surface reflects. The displays can hardly be read on the notebook. With matte displays, the display is not as bright because the special surface coating of the screen ensures diffuse refraction of incident light. For the human eye, reflections on the display are much more pleasant to tolerate with a matte display.
Our conclusion: The display size of the notebook is a matter of taste. For occasional surfing, online shopping or checking PNs on Facebook, Google, Twitter and co., even 12 inches are sufficient. 14 inches or 15 inches are actually standard if you want to work or play with the laptop; 17 inches offer a whole lot more freedom!
Processor
Regardless of whether you want to buy a 17-inch or 15-inch notebook – the most important purchase criterion is the processor's performance. This is given in GHz. The performance data of the processor alone are not conclusive for speed, as the computer's performance is determined by a combination of various components. These include main memory, hard drive, graphics card and controller for output and input functions.
Our conclusion: Depending on the tasks the device is to be used for, the processor's performance should be chosen. While Intel Core or AMD chips are completely sufficient for laptops for pure office use, the notebook requires more power for graphics work. In that case, an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 would be the minimum requirement.
Graphics card
While with a desktop PC the graphics card can be easily replaced by a more powerful one, it's a different story with a laptop. While simple graphics cards are completely sufficient for normal use (writing emails, surfing the internet or word processing), you need a bit more power for current 3D games. More power in the form of a high-end graphics card. These include, for example, the NVIDIA Geforce graphics card or the ATI Mobility Radeon. You should also know that the integrated graphics chips of a laptop are not sufficient to play games with a high refresh rate, detail level and resolution. In such a case, a simple graphics card must share the laptop's main memory. This is significantly slower, which means that performance is not really optimal. In a gaming notebook, the graphics card must have its own memory.
Our conclusion: The onboard graphics card is sufficient for simple office work, online shopping or surfing. For graphics applications, you need a laptop with an external graphics card. Its memory must have at least 512 MB.
Hard drive
When buying a refurbished laptop, whether 17" or smaller, the hard drive naturally plays a decisive role, because everything is stored here. Be it videos, pictures, text documents or other data. How fast or slow an HDD is depends on various factors. The classic notebook HDD consists of several rotating platters including a movable read and write head. Here, the rotational speed of the individual rotating platters is particularly crucial. This is measured in RPM (revolutions per minute) and is usually between 4000 and 5400 RPM. Depending on the model, the rotational speed is sometimes faster. For laptop HDDs, the rule of thumb is: the higher the rotational speed, the better, as data can be read and written faster. Especially when it comes to contiguous data, because in this case the read head of the HDD does not constantly have to take a new position. Other factors that influence the performance of a hard drive are the transfer technology and the controller integrated in the HDD.
Our conclusion: The laptop's hard drive should have a minimum size of 180 GB. Of course, there are also limited upgrade options here. How about replacing the standard platters with SSDs? The advantage: SSDs have a much faster read and write flow, which means not only can data be accessed faster, but software applications and programs also run much more stably.
SSD or classic hard drive
The function of an SSD is equivalent to a non-volatile memory, as is the case with flash memory cards or USB sticks. Compared to a classic hard drive, they have the advantage that heat generation is lower because their power consumption is lower. As a result, less cooling is required. Initially, SSDs were quite expensive, but they are now available at affordable prices. Classic used notebooks & laptops can usually be expanded with SSDs, as most devices have an additional slot for the hard drive.
Notebook battery
Typically, you buy a refurbished laptop for mobile work. For this reason, the notebook battery is an extremely important purchase criterion. Especially when buying a refurbished laptop with 17'' or smaller, the battery is a critical issue. Since the device has already been in use, the battery is also subject to a certain amount of wear and tear, which means its runtime is slightly shorter than with a new purchase. This is actually not a problem, as you can buy a powerful battery additionally in our shop for a few euros - if desired.
A few final tips

The RAM memory in a notebook for normal use should be between 3 and 4 GB.

The drive is an important purchase criterion for many. Depending on the manufacturer and model, our devices include either a DVD or DVD burner drive.

The card reader is a nice-to-have, but not a must. Hobby photographers in particular will love it, as you only need to insert the camera's SSD card to read the photos taken.

Wi-Fi is a must, because after all, a notebook should guarantee appropriate mobility in the house.

The operating system is partly a matter of taste. In our shop, you decide whether you want to buy a refurbished notebook with Windows 11, another or no operating system at all. For security reasons, we use the latest Microsoft operating system, Microsoft 11. Buying with an operating system naturally has the advantage that you can start working with the laptop immediately after it has been delivered by the parcel service. If you have forgotten your Windows 11 password, no problem.
Although we sell refurbished laptops, you don't have to expect significant cosmetic flaws from us. Nevertheless, time has not passed without leaving its mark on our laptops.
